"Phishing" Scam Continuing Activity

Global Payments has received information regarding suspicious activity indicating its name and trademarks are being used in a potential phishing scam. Although we do not believe this activity is isolated to Global Payments, we continue to work diligently in an effort to prevent and avoid any inconvenience or adverse issues for our customers or the public.

Emails we have received (an example of which is attached below) appear to originate from Global Payments, however, the header information shows that the email in fact, originated from a non-Global Payments account (i.e., Hotmail). The emails we have received contain a link that the scammers indicate can be used to "suspend or trace" sale tracking information. THIS LINK IS FRAUDULENT AND IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH GLOBAL PAYMENTS. We believe the scammers are using this link to obtain account credentials or other information about our customers or their accounts.

Please remind your staff members and merchants that Global Payments will never contact them in a manner such as this or request information in this manner. Furthermore, a link in an unfamiliar email should never be clicked on.

If a staff member or merchant has clicked the link in one of these emails and has been taken to a web page, they should close their browser without providing any username or password information. If you are aware of any merchants who have provided a username and password in this type of scenario, please notify the Relationship Management team immediately.

The current version of the scam has begun to appear as emails to merchants with this format:
